In addition, those in the education-related position will be eligible for leadership positions in the areas of technology coordination and curriculum development.
Students have the ability to customize their focus according to their interest by selecting 3 credit hours of elective classes.
Part-time enrollment in the program is also permitted.
Students choose an area of concentration from i) biomaterials, ii) electronic/photonic materials, iii) materials for energy and environment, or iv) nanomaterials.
The program is based on 30 credits of completed coursework.
The pre-professional non-thesis (PPNT) is an intensive 1 year program that prepares students for the rigors of professional school and produces students with better sophistication in their understanding of biological sciences, allowing them to succeed and be leaders in their professional school. The degrees are conferred through the Purdue University system, and entering students must meet the minimum admission requirements of the Graduate School of Purdue University and departmental requirements.
The non-thesis track will culminate with a project in IT899 Masters Project/Thesis in IDT.
In this project, the student applies the entire instructional design process to a problem that can be solved with instruction.
While this track will also prepare you to be a practitioner in the IDT field, the thesis track will give you a stronger foundation in research and a firm grasp of research topics in the instructional design and technology field.
The thesis track will enable you to get a job in an industry where the focus is on research and assessment or help prepare you to pursue a doctorate.
